The AGV K6 S is the helmet that best rewards a certification-first approach, because the data all points the same way. It carries genuine US DOT + ECE 22.06, it scored a perfect 5/5 in SHARP testing, and it does it in a carbon-aramid shell weighing about 1,255 g — one of the lightest full-face helmets on the market. Light, and independently verified as protective. That combination is rare.

We have not crash-tested this helmet. The certification and SHARP score are from the standards bodies, the weight and construction from AGV, and the ride notes are aggregated owner reports.

The safety data is the story

Most helmets ask you to trust the badge. The K6 S doesn't have to: SHARP bought it, impact-tested it and gave it five stars, which is the most objective protection information available short of a crash. Combined with genuine ECE 22.06 — the standard with the rotational-impact test — this is as strong a certification profile as any helmet here. See our certification explainer for what those marks actually mean.

Light enough to change your ride

At ~1,255 g the K6 S is lighter than most full-face helmets by a noticeable margin, and weight is the spec you feel most on a long day and in a crash (less mass, less neck load). The carbon-aramid shell is derived from AGV's racing helmets, which is also where the enormous field of view comes from — the view out of a K6 S is genuinely wide.

Who should skip it

There's no internal sun visor, so daily commuters into low sun should look at the Shoei RF-1400(also no visor, but the sport-touring default) or a touring lid with a drop-down shade. And AGV's fit runs sporty and snug — round-oval heads should check our sizing guide before committing.

How we picked

We do not crash-test helmets

We compiled published specifications, cited each helmet's certification (DOT, ECE 22.06, Snell, SHARP) from the standards body or manufacturer homologation, and aggregated owner reports, then scored against a published method. The scores are judgments from documented research — not measurements we took. We do not run a crash lab. Certifications reflect the US-market build; where it differs from the European version, we say so and cite it.

Questions

Frequently asked

Is the AGV K6 S ECE 22.06?
Yes — the US-market K6 S is homologated genuine DOT + ECE 22.06, and it scored a perfect 5/5 in independent SHARP testing. It's one of the best-documented full-face helmets for safety at any price.
How much does the AGV K6 S weigh?
AGV rates the first shell size at about 1,255 g (±50 g) in its carbon-aramid construction — very light for a full-face helmet.
Does the K6 S have a sun visor?
No — like the RF-1400, it omits the internal sun visor to save weight and keep the shell simpler. If you need a drop-down shade, look at the Shoei GT-Air 3.

We do not run a crash lab, and we do not pretend to. Certifications are cited to the standards body or the manufacturer's stated homologation; where a US model's certification differs from its European namesake, we say so. Where we could not verify something, we say so on the page rather than quietly leaving it out. Read our full method.
