How to choose a comms setup

Match your group. Mesh only helps if the people you ride with run compatible Mesh — Cardo and Sena Mesh don't interoperate at the Mesh level (they fall back to Bluetooth across brands). If your group runs Cardo, buy Cardo; if they run Sena, buy Sena. That single fact decides more happy purchases than any spec.

Weatherproofing is worth paying for if you ride in real weather — the Cardo Edge's IP67 rating is a genuine sealed-against-immersion spec, while Sena doesn't publish an IP rating for its integrated helmets (treat those as water-resistant only). And remember the bolt-on advantage: it lets the helmet decision and the comms decision stay independent, so you can buy the safest helmet AND the best comms rather than compromising one for the other.

Bluetooth links a fixed chain of riders and drops the chain if one goes out of range. Dynamic Mesh (Cardo DMC, Sena Mesh) is a self-healing network that re-routes as riders come and go and scales to 15+. Mesh is worth it for group riding; Bluetooth-only is fine for solo or a fixed pair.
Do Cardo and Sena work together?
Across brands they connect over standard Bluetooth, so two riders on different brands can talk. But you lose the dynamic-Mesh benefits — Mesh only works within a brand. If your group already runs one brand, match it.
