AGV K1 S Review

The AGV K1 S proves you don't need to spend big to get the current certification. It carries genuine DOT + ECE 22.06— the standard the flagships are praised for — in a budget thermoplastic shell, with a wide field of view and aero derived from AGV's racing helmets. If you want a real 22.06 helmet and AGV's sporty character without the flagship outlay, this is the entry point.

On a long day you feel that difference. It also has no sun visor and a sporty fit that runs snug for round heads. The money went into the certification and the AGV design, not into a weight-saving shell.

Fit, ventilation and everyday use

The K1 S fits AGV's sporty shape — intermediate-oval running slightly snug, so round-oval heads should try before buying — and comes with a removable, washable liner. Ventilation is a real strength, with race-derived front intakes that flow well at speed, and the wide eyeport gives an airy, open view uncommon at the price. It takes AGV's standard visors, so tinted and Pinlock-ready shields are available if you want to set up sun protection or anti-fog. For a budget helmet, the on-road experience punches above the price.

On value, the K1 S is squarely a budget helmet and honest about it: you get genuine ECE 22.06, a racing-derived shell and AGV's look for the least money, and you give up the low weight, plush finish and independent SHARP data of the K6 S. For a rider who prioritises the current certification and AGV character over weight and refinement, it's one of the best value certifications on the market — and a natural stepping stone to the K6 S later.
